You should regularly clean the rider and engine compartment before each use. Your goal is to clean out any debris that may have built up from the last use. Check the air filter as well because dust and debris will build up over time which will cause airflow problems. Airflow problems will eventually lead to efficiency problems. Always keep an eye on your oil level. Just like an automobile if the engine runs low on oil the engine may seize up. If the engine seizes up it may ruin the motor and require you to replace it. Always change the oil every 50 hours of use or before the beginning of every season.
Most of these accidents occur when the person reaches under the "skirt" of the mower or reaches into the discharge chute. (Source: Technology Associates) Other common injuries are caused by flying objects. Traditional lawn mowers have large blades that can throw objects as much as 50 feet. Combine that with risk of the operator slipping underneath flipping over in a riding lawn mower or being run over; one can easily see the concern for safety when it comes to lawn mowers in general. But robotic lawn mowers are completely different. The one biggest safety advantage robotic lawn mowers have over traditional lawn mowers is that you do not have to stand behind it or ride on top of it.
For most of the country lawn-mowing season is upon us leaving many homeowners with the age-old question "which type of lawn mower is best for my yard?" This question comes about because there are so many different types of yards and so many different types of mowers. We will discuss different types of lawn mowers and what types of lawns each of them fit the best. Manual Reel Lawn Mowers Manual reel mowers are great for very small lawns that are flat and relatively smooth. If you have a small flat lawn this could be the best type of mower for you. Reel mowers are lightweight because they do not have an engine there are few moving parts so they last a long time without the need for many repairs and they are quiet.
If you have a small or regular sized yard (say up to 5000 square feet) then a regular electric mower is probably going to be suitable for your needs. If you have acreage or a large yard then a riding lawn mower or a cordless electric lawn mower with additional batteries might be a better option. If you opt for a corded mower you will be restricted by the length of the electric cord and the availability of power outlets around your yard. Unless you do have a small yard battery operated mowers are a much more flexible option as you dont have to worry about dragging along an electric cord while mowing.
